the Zen Garden of Design Hotel Madlein
Austerity and beauty in the garden.
Contemplation inspired by Far Eastern concepts. The garden is the mirror image of purist and minimalist interior architecture. A pond, raked gravel beds, rounded stone blocks, small waterfalls, plants, a narrow bridge to the small lake that is heated to 40°, the "Madlein Lake," for "madlein" means mountain lake, spring, mountain meadow. In the background, you see the sky and the mountains, and you can enjoy the sunset. We call it the borrowed landscape, the borrowed mountain. The sky, whether clear or accented by clouds, forms the bridge between the mountains, the garden, and the building.
The Madlein Zen garden reproduces the natural landscape within a small space. A spiritual zone with plants, trees, and white gravel, where the tree and mountain gods can manifest and stay a while. The open, free spaces symbolize purity and the powers of renewal. It is the attempt to expand the garden to include cosmic dimensions. A garden with great charm and grace, an esthetic refinement of nature-a favorite place for contemplation and to quiet one's scattered thoughts. The movement inherent in this garden is so strong that a stone path to calm the rhythm like a smooth bass tone was laid down from the interior as a continuation of the wooden bridge.
A composition like this has a powerful effect because it touches the spirit and the soul.
The inner and outer zone of the Madlein spa and Zen garden are separated only by a glass wall and create a zone, in which the human being and nature intermingle. To enhance the Far Eastern mood and atmosphere, several fog machines were strategically placed to give the garden the effect of a foggy forest. Anyone who has a strong affinity for the beauty of this place will want to come here often. This world of rich associations will inspire visitors to compose their own poetry. Austerity offers the highest degree of freedom.
